ANDES [ESO] (ArmazoNes high Dispersion Echelle Spectrograph) formerly known as HIRES, is the project for a high-resolution spectrograph to be installed at the ESO E-ELT telescope. The concept of ANDES is being developed by a consortium that comprises several institutes in different European countries, as well as the USA, Canada, Brazil, and Chile. The Portuguese participation in this consortium is done through IA which is leading the “front end” work package component of the instrument, the data reduction and analysis software, the software system architecture, and the science drivers for the project. The group also participates in managing the consortium, having several key persons.
