PLATO [ESA] (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars mission), whose main scientific focus is the detection and characterization of extra-solar planets orbiting nearby, bright stars, using the transit method, as well as the detailed characterization of their host stars through asteroseismology, has been adopted by ESA in June 2017. The instrumentation team has leadership of several work packages for the development of software for the Plato Data Center (PDC) as well as in the development of the Optical Ground Support Equipment (OGSE) component to test and calibrate the PLATO cameras on ground.
